Can you believe it’s the last week of November? Boy does time fly.
Before the craziness of the holidays set in, I like to take some time to reflect on the past year and to plan for the year ahead.
Looking back, my 2014 has been a year filled with many ups which I am incredibly grateful for, but also a comparable amount of downs…..with many rigorous trials and periods of excruciating pain.
I’m sure you’ve had your fair share of conflicts and disappointments too…whether it be a breakup, financial problems, job stress, health concerns or family issues.
Who doesn’t encounter problems in life right?
While we can’t prevent it from happening, what really matters is how we navigate through it. As the famous saying goes, “the happiest people don’t necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.”
This resilience and positive outlook reminds me of a very inspiring story about a young woman, filled with feelings of failure and hopelessness. She’d been through a very rough patch and was seriously considering quitting it all, packing up and giving up on her dreams. She was tired of the struggle, the conflict and the disappointment.
Do you know that feeling?
Well here’s the story to help put things into perspective and to help you thrive when faced with the toughest and hardest trials in life.
In the face of adversity, are you a carrot, an egg or coffee beans?
As crappy and uncomfortable as things may be, it is my sincere hope that
you have enough happiness to make you sweet,
enough trials to make you strong,
enough sorrow to keep you human and
enough hope to make you happy.
The brightest future will always be based on a forgiven past; you can’t go forward in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches. When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you’re the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.
If you know someone toughing a battle with adversity, send this their way to give them some encouragement.
2015 is just around the corner and we all have the potential to make it our best year yet! With the new year ahead, are you going to choose to be the carrot, the egg or the coffee beans?
